Malawi’s official language is English. While it is important and beautiful to promote local and regional languages, we also need to be proficient in the language that officially identifies Malawians. We should ask ourselves: why aren’t we stronger in our official language? What have we done to promote the language that determines success in national examinations at all academic levels?
We promote Science and Mathematics in primary and secondary schools, yet these subjects are taught in a language many find difficult to understand. Even if students excel in all subjects, failing English means they cannot obtain a certificate, effectively failing entirely.
Hi there! I’m Mwayi Mchuchu, founder of elearnmalawi.org. I believe learning shouldn’t be confined to the classroom. It should be easier so learners can spend more time applying knowledge rather than struggling to understand the basics.
Through our courses, we can all improve and perfect our English, I’m still learning too!
Learning multiple languages is a huge advantage. With advancements in digital technology and artificial intelligence, the world is more connected than ever. English remains the universal language of communication, making it essential to master.
I hope you find the videos useful!
