Topic outline

  • General

  • Step One, Surface Preparation

    • Before we even think about picking up a paint brush, we prepare the walls.
This means filling cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces. If these are left unattended, they show through the paint and reduce the quality of the final output, no matter how expensive the paint is. A smooth wall always gives a cleaner, more professional finish.

      Recommended Steps:

      • Inspect the wall and identify cracks, holes, and uneven areas

      • Clean the surface to remove dust, grease, and loose material

      • Apply filler to cracks and holes evenly

      • Allow the filler to dry completely

      • Sand the filled areas until smooth and level with the wall

      • Wipe off all sanding dust to leave a clean surface ready for painting

  • Step Two, Taping and Protection

  • Step Three, Painting the Room

    • This is where the fun starts.
We mix the paint if needed to get the color we want. If color mixing is involved, research first, do not randomly mix colors and hope for magic. We then apply the paint evenly, working in sections to keep the finish consistent and smooth.

      Recommended Steps:

      • Determine the final color you want and plan any mixing carefully

      • If mixing colors, combine small amounts first to test the shade

      • Stir the paint thoroughly to ensure an even color and consistency

      • Start painting from one corner of the room, working in manageable sections

      • Apply the paint evenly with smooth, overlapping strokes

      • Check for drips or uneven areas and smooth them immediately

      • Allow each coat to dry before applying additional coats

      • Paint evenly, section by section, for a professional finish

By the end, you’ll see how all the steps fit together and feel confident enough to tackle any project. The most important thing to properly start..... is to just start.
